KiKi Kanboulay
2019KiKi Kanboulay was a video installation that documented the process taken to transform into KiKi Kanboulay, a Trinidadian drag queen. It explored the historical suppression of queer gender identities and sexualities in the Caribbean by intentionally blurring the line between carnival and ball culture, reflecting the parallels that exist between these practices. Whether KiKi is preparing for a stage performance or to participate in carnival remains ambiguous.
